ROCKSTAR SUMMER CAMP

Teens rock out at a summer camp for all experience levels, June to August.

Program Overview

  • RockStar School of Music Summer Camp is an immersive, rock-focused music education experience designed for teens aged 12 to 17 in the greater Winter Park, Florida area. Hosted at VIP Studios — a professional music facility featuring a fully equipped live-stage band rehearsal studio — the camp offers one-week sessions running Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, from mid-June through August.

  • The program is built around a simple but powerful premise: the best way to learn music is to play music — in a band, on a real stage, with real musicians guiding the way. Each session accommodates an ideal group of 12 campers (maximum 20), ensuring every participant receives personalized instruction and meaningful stage time. Campers of all experience levels — from absolute beginners to intermediate players — are welcome, as the program is designed to meet each student where they are and move them forward at an accelerating pace.

  • Tuition is priced at only $449 per week, with sibling and multi-week enrollment discounts available, making the program accessible to a broad range of families. By the end of the week, every camper performs live in a culminating showcase for parents and friends — a moment that transforms five days of hard work into a genuine rock-and-roll memory.

Learning Objectives and Skills Developed

RockStar Summer Camp is designed to deliver measurable musical growth alongside broader developmental benefits that serve teens well beyond the stage. By the conclusion of each session, campers will have:

Musical Skills:

  • Demonstrated foundational to intermediate proficiency on their chosen instrument
  • Learned to play multiple complete rock songs within a genre-specific repertoire
  • Developed an understanding of song structure, rhythm, timing, and ensemble dynamics
  • Gained introductory exposure to music theory concepts as applied to rock music (chord construction, scales, rhythm notation)
  • Participated in collaborative songwriting and creative musical expression

Live Performance

Performance Skills:

  • Rehearsed and performed as part of a live band
  • Developed stage presence, confidence, and audience awareness
  • Experienced the discipline of working toward a public performance deadline

Interpersonal and Creative Skills:

  • Practiced active listening, communication, and teamwork within a band setting
  • Built confidence through creative self-expression in a supportive peer environment
  • Developed an appreciation for rock music history and subgenre diversity

These outcomes align with research-supported benefits of music education for adolescents, including improved cognitive function, emotional regulation, and social connectivity.

Unique Program Features and Differentiators

Rock-Exclusive Focus

Unlike multi-genre music camps, RockStar is built entirely around rock music and its subgenres. The curriculum, instructors, repertoire, and culture are all designed with the rock musician in mind, creating an authenticity that resonates with teen campers.

Access to a Professional Live-Performance Stage

Campers spend meaningful daily time in VIP Studios' band rehearsal room — a real performance environment, not a classroom approximation. This exposure to professional-grade acoustics, amplification, and stage setup is rare at the youth camp level and provides an experience that genuinely prepares campers for real-world performance.

Small Group Sizes

With an ideal enrollment of 12 campers per session (maximum 20), the program maintains a low camper-to-instructor ratio that enables consistent personalized attention, faster skill progression, and a tighter band community.

Professional Instruction

The camp targets instructors with Berklee College of Music credentials or equivalent professional performance and teaching experience. Parents can be confident that their teen is learning from working musicians with rigorous musical training.

Themed Weekly Sessions

The rotating genre-based structure encourages multi-week enrollment, rewards returning campers with fresh content, and signals to families that the program is thoughtfully designed and musically credible.

Inclusive Equipment Policy

No instrument, no problem. VIP Studios provides equipment for campers who do not own their own, removing a significant barrier to entry and ensuring full participation from day one.

Final Performance and Showcase

Campers perform in a band on a live stage.

Every session culminates in a live band performance on the final day of camp — a moment that serves as both the educational climax of the week and a celebration shared with parents, siblings, and friends.

The showcase is held on Friday afternoon in VIP Studios' stage rehearsal space, transformed for the occasion into a performance venue. Each band performs the songs rehearsed throughout the week, giving campers the experience of a real concert — complete with an audience, amplified sound, and the irreplaceable feeling of delivering a live performance they have worked hard to earn.

The final showcase is not simply a recital. It is a rock show — and for many campers, it will be the first time they have ever performed on a stage. That experience, and the confidence it builds, is among the most lasting and meaningful outcomes of the RockStar Summer Camp program.

Parents are encouraged to attend, photograph, and cheer loudly. The energy of a live audience, the pride of a polished performance, and the camaraderie of a week spent becoming a band together create a powerful and memorable conclusion — and one that frequently inspires campers to return the following summer.

Daily Program Structure and Activities

Typical Daily Schedule

Each session day runs from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM and is structured to balance instruction, collaboration, creativity, and rehearsal in a dynamic sequence that keeps campers engaged and progressing throughout the week.

Campers are assigned to one of the five core instrument tracks — electric guitar, bass guitar, drums, vocals, or keyboards — based on their interest and experience level. Those without instruments of their own are provided studio-quality equipment by VIP Studios. Instruction within each track is led by a professional, instrument-specific musician, with the program overall guided by a Head Instructor and Music Director.

A defining feature of each day is the substantial time spent in VIP Studios' live-stage band rehearsal space — a professional-grade environment that immediately distinguishes this camp from classroom-only programs. Campers do not simply learn about playing in a band; they are in a band, from day one.

Curriculum Delivery Advantages

The combination of VIP Studios’ professional live-stage rehearsal room, small group size, and experienced instructors enables a level of personalization and authenticity that larger programs struggle to match. Campers spend the majority of their time actively playing music rather than listening to instruction, maximizing both enjoyment and skill acquisition.

This carefully structured yet flexible curriculum ensures that every participant — regardless of starting ability — leaves the RockStar School of Music Summer Camp with improved musical skills, greater confidence, new friendships, and the unforgettable experience of performing live on stage as a rock band.

Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at vipstudios.usa@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

RockStar is a one-week, rock-focused music camp for teens aged 12–17, held at VIP Studios in Winter Park, Florida. Campers spend the week learning their instrument, forming a band with other campers, rehearsing real songs in a professional live-stage studio, and performing a full concert for family and friends on Friday afternoon. It runs Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, from mid-June through July.

Any teen aged 12 to 17 who loves rock music — or thinks they might. We welcome complete beginners who have never touched an instrument and intermediate players who want to level up in a band setting. No prior experience is required. If your teen has ever air-guitared in the kitchen, they belong here.

Three things set us apart: small groups (ideal 12 campers, max 20 — not 40+), a real live-performance stage at VIP Studios where campers rehearse and perform every day, and a rock-exclusive focus with rotating weekly themes. We’re also owner-operated — not a franchise — which means every session gets hands-on attention from the person who built this program. And at $300–$400 per week, we’re priced well below comparable programs.

Campers choose one of five instrument tracks: Electric Guitar, Bass Guitar, Drums, Vocals, & Keyboards. Instruction within each track is led by a professional musician who specializes in that instrument. Campers who aren’t sure which to pursue can discuss options during registration.

Absolutely — and we encourage it. Each week has a completely different theme, repertoire, and song list, so returning campers get a fresh experience every time. Multi-week campers also qualify for a $25 discount on each additional session. Many campers attend two or three sessions over the summer.

Not at all. Complete beginners are welcome and make up a significant portion of campers every session. Our instructors are experienced at meeting students exactly where they are and building skills quickly in an immersive environment. By Friday, even true beginners are performing on a real stage with their band — which still surprises parents every single week.

All instructors are professional musicians with serious credentials — we target Berklee College of Music graduates or equivalent experience. Each instructor specializes in one or two specific instruments and works with a small group of campers throughout the week. The program is overseen by a Head Instructor / Music Director who designs the weekly curriculum and coordinates all instruction. All instructors are background-checked before working with campers.

Song selections are curated for each weekly theme and chosen for their musical value, age-appropriateness, and fun factor. For example, Classic Rock Week might include songs by Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, and The Who; Punk Week might draw from The Ramones, Green Day, and Blink-182. Bands are assigned 2–3 songs based on their experience level and pace. The final setlist is confirmed by Wednesday of each week.

The Friday showcase is a real rock show — not a recital. Each band performs their rehearsed songs on VIP Studios’ live stage, fully amplified, for an audience of parents, siblings, and friends. Doors open around 1:30 PM and the performances begin at approximately 2:00 PM. The event is filmed (with signed media releases) and highlight reels are shared with families within 48 hours. It’s non-competitive — every camper performs, every camper gets their moment. Bring your camera.

Campers who own their own instruments are welcome and encouraged to bring them, but it is never required. instruments will be provided. VIP Studios is fully stocked with electric guitars, bass guitars, drum kits, keyboards, and all amplification. If your teen brings a personal instrument, please note that VIP Studios is not responsible for damage or loss of personal equipment.

Each camper should bring:

• Lunch and snacks — we do not provide food; campers must bring their own
• Their instrument (if they have one and choose to bring it)
• A notebook and pen (optional but useful for songwriting sessions)
• Comfortable clothes they can move and play in

We’ll have picks, drum sticks, and basic accessories on hand at no extra charge.

Drop-off is between 8:45 and 9:00 AM at the VIP Studios entrance, where a staff member will sign your camper in. Pick-up is at 3:00 PM sharp. Only individuals listed as authorized on the registration form may pick up a camper, and photo ID is required. If someone other than the listed adults will be picking up, please notify us in advance. Campers are never released to an unauthorized individual.

All medical information is collected during registration and kept strictly confidential. A first aid kit is on-site at all times, and our written emergency action plan covers medical emergencies, severe weather, and evacuation. In the event of a medical emergency, staff will call 911 immediately and contact parents. Campers who carry EpiPens or other emergency medications should bring them every day. Please disclose all relevant medical conditions on the registration form so we can prepare appropriately.

Standard tuition is $450 per week. Available discounts:

• Early-bird rate: $400/week for registrations 30+ days before the session
• Multi-week discount: $25 off each additional session for the same camper

Yes — and we’d love that. VIP Studios offers private lessons in all five instrument tracks year-round, as well as small-group classes and ongoing band programs for former campers. Camp alumni receive a 20% discount on their first month of private lessons when they enroll in the fall. Our long-term vision is to grow RockStar into a full year-round music school, and our summer campers are the heart of that community.
